Starting a gasoline engine (Skoda Fabia 6Y)

1. Place the gear shift lever in neutral position.

2. Press the clutch pedal all the way down.

3. Turn on the starter by turning the key in the ignition switch to position III (without pressing the accelerator pedal). Do not engage the starter for more than 10 seconds. Once the engine starts running smoothly, release the key; under the action of the return spring, it will return to position II. If the engine is hot, lightly press the accelerator pedal.

4. If the engine does not start on the first try, turn off the ignition by turning the key to position I and after approximately 30 seconds turn the starter on again.

5. If the engine does not start after the second attempt, it is necessary to identify the fault (the fuel pump fuse may have blown).

6. After starting the engine, move off immediately. Do not warm up the engine by idling. It may overheat.
