Attention! Attach the tow rope or tow bar only to the above towing eyelets.
Attention! The tow rope must be resilient so that the towed and towed vehicles do not suffer from hard shocks. For this purpose, only cables made of artificial fiber or of a material with similar elasticity should be used. It is safer, however, to use a tow bar.
Attention! When towing the vehicle, try to avoid too much traction at all times in order to prevent sudden jolts. When towing a car on an unpaved road, there is always a risk of damage to the car - deformation or detachment of the hinges.
Attention! Before attempting to start the engine by towing the vehicle, it is recommended that you try to start it using a booster battery located in another vehicle.
Towing eyelet in front
The towing eye is located inside the front right bumper, behind the protective grille. The protective grille can be removed using a screwdriver like a lever.
Rear towing eye
The towing eye is located under the bumper in front on the right.
If you ever need to tow your vehicle, the following guidelines must be followed:
- you must comply with the laws on towing vehicles;
- both drivers must be familiar with the peculiarities of driving vehicles when towing;
- when accelerating and shifting gears in the case of using a towing cable, the driver of the towing vehicle must operate the clutch very carefully and gently;
- the driver of the towed vehicle must keep the cable taut at all times;
- both vehicles must have an emergency light alarm system on - if necessary, other rules and regulations must be observed;
- the towed vehicle must have the ignition on to prevent the possibility of blocking the steering wheel and to preserve the possibility of using electrical receivers;
- Due to the fact that the brake booster only works when the engine is running, it must be taken into account that when the engine is stopped, a significantly greater force on the brake pedal will have to be applied in order to achieve the required braking effect!
On vehicles with power steering, significantly more steering force must be applied when the engine is stopped.
If there is no oil in the gearbox of the towed vehicle, then it can only be towed with the drive wheels raised.
When starting the engine by towing a vehicle with a manual transmission, the following instructions must be observed:
- before starting towing, engage 2nd or 3rd gear;
- turn on the ignition;
- as soon as the engine starts, immediately press the clutch and turn off the speed in order to prevent a collision between both cars.
Attention! Vehicles with an exhaust gas catalyst must not be started by towing over a long distance, as unburned fuel can get into the exhaust gas catalyst and burn out here. This can lead to overheating of the catalytic converter and thus to its destruction.
Attention! Starting the engine by towing vehicles with automatic transmission is not possible for technical reasons!
When towing a vehicle with an automatic transmission, the following instructions must be observed:
- move the automatic transmission control lever to the IN position";
- towing speed should not exceed 50 km/h;
- the maximum distance for towing is 50 km;
- for towing a longer distance, the vehicle must be raised in front.
Reason: When the engine is stopped, the gear oil pump does not work, as a result of which the gearbox is not sufficiently lubricated at higher speeds and over long distances.
When using the car for towing faulty vehicles, you can only tow the car with the front wheels raised.
Cause: With the vehicle raised at the rear, the drive shafts turn backwards. As a result of the foregoing, the planetary gears in an automatic transmission will rotate at such a high frequency that the gearbox can be very seriously damaged in a short time.
