Fastening of the top and lower casings of a steering column

Removing return and slip rings

Attention! When installing the return and slip rings, they must be in the middle position. Do not turn the rings relative to each other - when turning the steering wheel, they may break.
1. Remove the steering wheel (see subsection 8.1), making sure once again that the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
2. Remove two screws 2 (see fig. Fastening of the top and lower casings of a steering column) fasteners and remove the upper casing 4 of the steering column.
3. Turn away three screws 3 fastenings, lower down the handle of the mechanism of fixing of a steering column and remove the bottom casing 1 of a steering column.
4. Disconnect block 1 (see fig. Removing return and slip rings) with wires from the slip ring.
5. If the return 4 and contact 2 rings are not removed for replacement, fasten them together with adhesive tape.
6. Unfasten three plastic latches 3 and remove the rings from the steering column.
7. Install rings in reverse order. The spare parts are supplied with rings fastened together with a transport clamp. Remove this clip just before installing the rings on the steering column.
