With new connecting rods, it may happen that the intended break point is not completely broken. If you cannot remove the connecting rod cover manually, then proceed as follows:
Mark connecting rod to cylinder liner.
Lightly clamp the connecting rod in a vise with aluminum protective jaws, as shown in the figure below.
Unscrew both connecting rod cap bolts (arrows) about 5 turns.
Carefully tap the connecting rod cap in the direction of the arrow with a plastic mallet until it comes off.
