The proportion of plastics in the ŠKODA Octavia series of cars is relatively large and therefore the introduction of a program for recycling parts made of plastics is a major contribution to environmental protection and saving raw materials and energy. At the automobile plant "ŠKODA - AO Automobile Plant" this program has already been implemented on Felicia cars.

To successfully implement the program for recycling plastics found in cars, it is necessary to reduce their range as much as possible and introduce a unified designation that helps to easily identify the type of material. A standard designation is pressed onto each plastic part. This allows for the classification, collection and subsequent recycling of materials from decommissioned cars.

The designation of each plastic part includes: the designation of the pressing tool, the part number of the unit, the material code and the date of manufacture. The material code is formed by three pairs of letters and numbers (for example, PP TV 20 – PP = polypropylene, TV 20 = 20% additives).

Overview of the main plastic parts intended for recycling after the Skoda Octavia is decommissioned:
  • air cleaner and resonator housing;
  • air duct;
  • air distributor;
  • heating system nodes;
  • partition wall casing;
  • battery;
  • instrument panel with covers and connecting parts inclusive;
  • door handles, window handles and pull handles;
  • panel covers for pillars, thresholds and panels in the luggage compartment;
  • front and rear bumpers;
  • foam seat inserts;
  • fuel tank;
  • activated carbon container;
  • coolant reservoir;
  • washer fluid reservoir;
  • fog light grilles;
  • exterior mirror housings and brackets;
  • wheel caps;
