1. Before removing the ECM, read its identification data and coding. If the ECM is removed for replacement, connect the diagnostic tool and perform the function "Replace engine control unit".

2. Turn off the ignition.

3. Remove the gutter cover (see Chapter 11).

4. Open the lock (see accompanying illustration) and remove the ECM.

5. On models with a protective cover, make it with bolts (3 and 4 in the accompanying illustration) crosswise cuts, unscrew them with a screwdriver and remove the protective cover of the connectors (2 and 5).

6. After removing the ECM, you can disconnect its connectors.

7. Installation is performed in the reverse order. On models with ECM protection, use new shear bolts, tighten until the head is sheared. After installing the new ECM, enter the injector codes into its memory.
