2. If the clearance of the new valve in the guide bushing exceeds 0.8 mm, it is necessary to replace the cylinder head, since replacement of the guide bushings separately is not provided.

3. Processing of valves is not allowed, only grinding is possible.

4. The following describes the procedure for replacing the valve stem seals without removing the cylinder head.

5. Remove the cylinder head cover (see Section 9).

6. Remove the rocker arms and place them on a clean surface so that they can then be installed in their original positions.

7. Remove the spark plugs (see Section 14 Chapter 1).

8. Set the piston of the corresponding cylinder to the bottom dead center position.

9. Screw tool No. 2036 or MP1-213 onto the cylinder head (see illustration), screw the pressure hose VW 653/3 or MP1-210 into the spark plug thread and supply air through it under a pressure of at least 6 bar. Using the lever VW 541/1A/5 or MP1-211 and the pressing device VW541/7, remove the valve spring, and then pull out the oil deflector cap using the puller No. 3364 or MP1-230.

10. Place the plastic sleeve supplied with the valve stem seal onto the valve stem to avoid damaging the seal during installation. Insert a new oil seal (1 in the illustration) in device No. 3365 or MP1-233, lubricate the sealing edge of the cap and carefully push it into the guide sleeve through the valve (2).
