The multifunction steering wheel includes (depending on configuration) as follows: multifunction buttons on the left side -E440- and on the right side -E441 - for operating the infotainment system; Tiptronic upshift switch -E438- and downshift switch -E439- for operating a dual clutch gearbox in Tiptronic mode; The multifunction steering wheel control unit -J453- is integrated in the front left switch block.
Removal and installation of button modules for controlling the infotainment system
The installation work for both push-button modules is identical. Remove the airbag module in the steering wheel. Remove panel with button modules -2- from steering wheel -1- by prying evenly and carefully with a wedge -arrows-.
Remove screws -3-. When removing modules -1- and -2-, carefully release connecting cable from support -arrows-. Vehicles with automatic transmission with steering wheel control - disconnect the connectors of the button modules.
Installation
Installation in reverse order.
Note: Lay the connecting cable of the modules correctly in the guide in the panel -arrows-. Before installing the air bag module, check that all wires are correctly routed into the guide grooves in the steering wheel foam parts. The protruding wires can be damaged by the parts of the airbag module located on the back side. Observe the procedure for performing work when connecting the battery. After replacing the button modules, code using the Tester.
Removal and installation of push-button control modules of the gearbox in Tiptronic mode (KP 02E, 0AM - DSG)
The mounting sequence for both switch modules is identical. Remove the airbag module in the steering wheel. Remove panel with button modules -2- from steering wheel -1- by prying evenly and carefully with a wedge -arrows-. Disconnect connector. Remove screw -arrow A- (1.7 Nm), tilt and pull out the button module for operating the gearbox -1- -arrow B-.
Installation
Installation in reverse order.
