Attention. Transportation of children in a restraint mounted on the front seat with the back forward is strictly prohibited unless the front passenger airbag is deactivated; a description of how to deactivate the airbag is given in the subsection below.
When transporting children under the age of approximately one year and weighing less than 10 kg (up to 9 months) or 13 kg (up to 18 months) carrycots and convertible seats provide optimal protection (respectively groups 0 or 0+), mounted on the rear seat against the direction of travel of the vehicle and secured with a seat belt or ISOFIX/''Top Tether' construction".
Comment. Transformable seats, unlike cradles, are more functional, because. they can also be installed in the direction of travel and are designed for a child weighing more than 9 kg (but also up to one year).
For children aged approximately one year and weighing from 9 to 18 kg, child seats are provided (group 1), installed in the direction of travel. Children aged 3 to 7 years (weighing from 15 to 25 kg) should be seated in extra chairs (group 2). Children aged 6 to 12 years (weighing from 22 to 36 kg) can be seated on special cushions (group 3). Groups 2 and 3 restraints are also secured by the seat belt.
Attention. Do not use additional seats or pillows that have only a lumbar seat belt; Do not place the seat belt under the child's arm or behind their back.
Detailed prescribing instructions (for what age and weight category), placement and installation of devices for ensuring the safe transportation of children must be attached to these devices; if necessary, contact a Skoda representative for advice.
Vehicle restraints, whether or not they are currently being used for their intended purpose, must be secured to prevent injury in the event of an accident. Also, do not leave the restraints in direct sunlight, or check their temperature before seating the child, he may burn himself.
If you need to place a teenager or child over 12 years old in the front passenger seat, move the seat as far as possible from the front airbag and fasten the child with a seat belt. An additional cushion can be placed on the seat so that the seat belt is in the correct position on the body of a teenager.
The front passenger seat, as well as the rear seats, have special points for attaching the ISOFIX restraint system, marked with labels with the appropriate symbols (see illustration 8.1a). The child restraints of the following ISOFIX classes are suitable for these anchorages (according to ECE-R 44). To install an ISOFIX child seat, insert the holders (A) in the ears (IN), and then insert the child seat anchors into them in the direction of the arrow until they click into place. Finally, check that the child seat is secure by tugging on it.
8.1a Lower fixing points for the ISOFIX restraint
When purchasing an ISOFIX restraint, check its weight category and size for the intended installation location.
Child seats can also be equipped with a fastening system "Thor Tether". For attaching such child seats to the rear seat of the car, there are brackets behind the backrest (see illustration 8.1b). When installing child seats with anchorage "Thor Tether" follow the instructions supplied with the seat.

Deactivating the front passenger airbags
Attention. Remember to activate the front passenger airbags after removing the child seat.
With switch (see illustration 8.2), located in the main glove box, you can disable/enable the front passenger's front airbag.
Comment. This switch is installed by Skoda representatives as an option.
Other airbags and inflatable curtains can only be deactivated by a workshop that has the appropriate diagnostic equipment. If the airbags are disabled using the scan tool, the SRS R/L in the instrument cluster illuminates for approximately 4 seconds after the ignition is turned on and then flashes for 12 seconds at 2 second intervals.
8.2 Front passenger airbag switch
To deactivate/activate the front passenger airbags with the ignition off, turn the switch with the key to the position respectively "OFF" or "ON". Successful deactivation can be judged by the activation of the corresponding control lamp "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" on the center console about 4 seconds after the ignition is switched on (28 in illustration 12.1). In addition, for 4 seconds after the ignition is turned on, the SRS K / L lights up in the instrument cluster.
Attention. If, with the front passenger airbag deactivated, K / L "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" off, blinking, or on together with K/L SRS in the instrument cluster (see Section 13), you should not transport a child in the front seat, because. malfunctions detected in the SRS system can cause the airbags to deploy. At the earliest opportunity, have a Skoda dealer check the SRS system.
