Caution: Before opening the hood, take measures to prevent the car from rolling away: set the DSG selector lever to the "P" position and the manual transmission to neutral, set the parking brake, remove the key from the ignition switch and keep children away from the car. If there is a system "Start-Stop" turn it off before you start working under the hood (see section 18). Work in the underhood space requires certain knowledge and increased attention, so if you have any doubts about the correctness of the actions, the work should be entrusted to specialists.

Open the driver's door and pull the lever (20 in illustration 12.1) near its lower hinge, the hood opens and lifts slightly. At the same time, a locking handle appears in the radiator grille. Make sure the wiper arms are not pulled away from the windshield and press the release handle (1 in illustration 3.1), - the hood lock is removed.

3.1. Handle (1) for releasing the hood lock and locking the hood in the open position (2 and 3)

Grasp the front of the hood under the chrome molding, pull the support out of the holder in the direction of the arrow (2) and secure the open hood by inserting the end of the support into the specially designed hole (3). Before closing the hood, make sure that there are no tools, rags or any other foreign objects left in the engine compartment.

To close the hood, lift it slightly, lower the support and securely fix it in the holder, and then lower the hood from a height of approximately 20 cm.

To check if the hood is securely locked in the closed position, try pulling it up by the front edge.

Note: To avoid damaging the paintwork, do not press the loosely closed hood with your hands; the correct way is to open it again and release it from a small height.
