Keys, remote control and single lock (Skoda Yeti 5L)

Warning: Children should not be left unattended in the vehicle with the keys in the vehicle, especially when the key is in the ignition. Children have a habit of imitating adults and can lock doors from the inside, turn on the ignition or start the engine. This could result in injury to children when using, for example, electric windows, or an accident if the vehicle starts to move.

The car comes with two key fobs (see illustration 1.1), which are a folding metal key, an immobilizer chip and a remote control (RC) for a single lock located in one plastic case.

Note: Keep the key clean. To avoid damage to the electronic components located in the key, do not expose it to strong mechanical loads (deformations, impacts), high temperatures and humidity.

Metal keys fit all car locks. To remove the metal key from the key fob, press the button (5 in illustration 1.1). To remove the mechanical key, also press the indicated button and insert the key into the key fob until it locks. To order a duplicate key or additional keys from a Skoda representative, you will need to provide the VIN number of the car (see Introduction). In order for the new key to be able to control the single lock with the remote control and start the engine, it is necessary to synchronize the key with the remote control receiver (see subsection below) and encode the immobilizer chip (at a service station with the appropriate diagnostic equipment). A duplicate key ordered by VIN number can only be adapted to the immobilizer of a vehicle with this VIN number.

Remote control, replacing the key battery

The remote control is designed to activate/deactivate a single lock (see description of single lock in the corresponding subsection below), while outside the car. After turning on the ignition, the remote control receiver automatically turns off. When the battery is fully charged, the range of the remote control can reach 10 meters. The purpose of the remote control buttons is shown in Figure 1.1.

The proper functioning of the remote control and its range of action may be negatively affected by local sources of radio emission. If, due to interference on the operating frequency of the remote control or due to a discharged battery, it is not possible to unlock/lock the single lock with the remote control, use a metal key by inserting it into the lock in the driver's door. If the car can no longer be unlocked using the remote control, you should replace the battery or synchronize the key with the remote control receiver (see below).



The remote control uses a power source that must be replaced periodically. The need to replace the battery can be judged by the gradual decrease in the range of the remote control. In addition, when the battery is discharged, pressing the button on the remote control will not be accompanied by the indicator turning on (2 in illustration 1.1).

To replace the key fob battery, follow the steps below.

1. Flip open the metal key (see subsection above), turn the key with the buttons facing down.

2. Press the lid (In illustration 1.2) batteries in places (1) with your thumb or a flat-head screwdriver. Remove the cover.



3. By pushing the discharged battery down at the arrow point (2 in illustration 1.2), remove it from the key.

4. Insert a new battery of the same type with the "+" side facing down (the polarity is also indicated on the battery cover).

5. Place the battery cover on the key and press it so that it enters into the locked position with a characteristic sound.

Synchronizing the key with the remote control receiver

After a certain number of presses on the remote control buttons outside the range of the remote control receiver, it will not be possible to unlock/lock the car doors using the remote control. In this case, to restore the functionality of the remote control, the key must be synchronized with the remote control receiver, as described below. In addition, synchronization is required to use the new key (it can be ordered by VIN number from a Skoda representative), after replacing the remote control receiver, and also (in some cases) after replacing the remote control battery.



To synchronize, fold back the metal key, press any button on the remote control and within one minute, unlock the car door with the metal key.

Single lock

Note: If people or pets are left in the vehicle, they may lock the vehicle from the inside, so always take the key with you to unlock the vehicle from the outside.

Note: If the buttons on the key fob are pressed frequently within a short period of time, the single lock will be briefly disabled to avoid overload.

The single lock becomes ready to operate after all doors and the luggage compartment are closed. When the driver's door is open, the car is not locked using the key fob button. All doors of the car, including the tailgate, as well as the fuel filler flap, can be locked and unlocked simultaneously from both the outside and inside of the car. In addition, a single lock controls the comfort opening/closing function of the windows and the sunroof (if available, see Section 5).

Depending on the configuration, you can set different locking/unlocking algorithms (see below) via the "Settings→Comfort→Door unlocking" menu on the instrument cluster display. In the same menu, you can turn on/off the automatic locking function at speeds over 15 km/h. After automatic locking, the doors are unlocked automatically when the key is removed from the ignition switch (if the automatic unlocking function is selected in the specified menu), either manually (via internal release handles or the key of the single lock in the passenger compartment).



In the event of an accident with airbag deployment, all vehicle locks are unlocked to provide access to rescuers.

Unlocking/locking of the single lock from the outside can be done using the remote control or by means of a key inserted into the driver's door lock.

To unlock a single lock, press the corresponding button on the remote control once (see illustration 1.1) or turn the key in the driver's door lock in the appropriate direction (see illustration 1.3). Depending on the selected item in the menu "Settings→Comfort→Door unlocking→Manually", the algorithm for unlocking using the remote control may be as follows.

• "All doors" - all vehicle doors are unlocked, including the tailgate, as well as the fuel filler flap.
• "Unlocking one door" - only the driver's door is unlocked; to unlock the remaining doors, press the unlock button on the remote control twice.
• "On one side of the car" - only the driver's door and the rear left door are unlocked; to unlock the remaining doors, press the unlock button on the remote control twice.
• "Individually" - only the driver's door is unlocked.

When the single lock is unlocked, all direction indicators flash twice and the interior lighting turns on automatically (if it is set to turn on when the doors are opened), and on models without anti-theft alarm, the indicator in the driver's door stops flashing. If the seat and exterior mirror position memory function is available, the position corresponding to the key used is selected when the vehicle is unlocked.



Do not press the lock button on the remote control while inside the vehicle when the key is not inserted into the ignition switch to avoid accidentally locking the vehicle and setting off the anti-theft alarm.

On models with an anti-theft alarm, after unlocking the main lock with a metal key, only the driver's door, fuel filler flap and tailgate are unlocked; the remaining doors can be unlocked from the inside. If the ignition is not turned on within 15 seconds, the anti-theft alarm will be activated.

If no door or luggage compartment is opened within 30 seconds after the main lock is unlocked, the vehicle will automatically lock. This prevents unauthorized access by third parties in the event of accidental unlocking of the vehicle.

Some models have two levels of locking of a single lock from the outside of the vehicle: full locking and locking without blocking the locks.

When fully locked, the anti-theft system is activated, and the doors and windows cannot be opened from inside the car (via individual release handles or a single lock key in the passenger compartment) it won't work. This makes it difficult to access the car, since even if you break the window, you won't be able to open the door. To fully lock the single lock, press the lock button on the key fob once or turn the key once in the driver's door lock. Full locking should not be used if there are people left in the vehicle, as they will not be able to (for example, when the interior overheats in summer or when the interior overcools in winter) get out of it on your own. In addition, if there is a cabin volume sensor, movement in the cabin will lead to false alarms of the anti-theft alarm. When the vehicle is completely locked, a message is displayed on the instrument cluster display "CHECK SAFELOCK" or "Check deadlock! Owner's manual!".



If you press the unlock button on the key fob again/turn the key in the driver's door lock within two seconds after fully locking, the door will lock without blocking the locks. The car can be unlocked and then opened using the key of the single lock in the passenger compartment, or using individual release handles on the doors. When locking without blocking the locks, the anti-theft system is activated, but without the use of tilt and interior volume sensors. Locking without blocking the locks can be used if people remain in the car (so that the interior volume sensor does not go off and people can get out of the car), or if the car is transported by ferry (so that the tilt sensor does not work).

When a single lock is locked, all direction indicators flash once and the interior lighting is automatically switched off. If any door or luggage compartment is not closed when locking, the direction indicators will flash only after it is closed. The locking status can be judged by the red indicator in the driver's door:

• when fully locked (models without anti-theft alarm) the indicator flashes every 2 seconds;
• when fully locked (models with anti-theft alarm) the indicator flashes frequently for 2 seconds and then slowly;
• when locking without locking the locks (models without anti-theft alarm) the indicator starts flashing 30 seconds after locking;
• when locking without locking the locks (models with anti-theft alarm) the indicator flashes rapidly for 2 seconds, then turns off for 30 seconds, and then starts flashing again;
• if the indicator flashes frequently for the first two seconds, then lights continuously for 30 seconds, and then flashes slowly, the single lock or anti-theft alarm sensors are faulty.

To control the single lock from inside the car, a double button is provided on the driver's door (see illustration 1.4): right side - unlocking, left - locking. Holding this key activates the comfort opening/closing function (see Section 5). This key works regardless of the presence and position of the key in the ignition switch. The only condition when the key to control the single lock from the passenger compartment does not work is the complete locking of the single lock. When a single lock is locked from the inside, the doors cannot be opened from the outside. This prevents unauthorized access to the interior, for example when stopped at a traffic light. Unlike locking the car with the remote control, locking from the inside does not activate the anti-theft system. To unlock and open a separate door from the inside after it has been locked, pull its internal release handle (in some versions - twice). If any side door is open when the lock button is pressed, all doors except that door are locked. This prevents a situation where the driver remains outside a vehicle that is locked from the inside. In the event of an accident with airbag deployment, doors locked from the inside are automatically unlocked.
