Attention: Children should not be left unattended in the car if the keys are in it, especially if the key is in the ignition. Children have a habit of imitating adults and can lock doors from the inside, turn on the ignition or start the engine. This can cause injury to children when using, for example, power windows or an accident if the vehicle starts to move.
The car comes with two key fobs (see illustration 1.1), which are a folding metal key, an immobilizer chip and a remote control located in one plastic case (DU) single lock. In some variants, the key additionally contains a chip for detecting the key by the system "KESSY".
Note: Keep the key clean. To avoid damage to the electronic components located in the key, do not expose it to strong mechanical stress (deformations, shocks), high temperatures and moisture.
1.1 Key fob
1 Unlocking a single lock (hold 1 second)
2 Remote control button pressed indicator
3 Unlocking/opening the luggage compartment only (see section 2)
4 Complete (hold 1 second) or partial (double click within 2 seconds) locking a single lock
5 Lock release button for removing/refilling the key in the key fob
Metal keys fit all car locks. To remove the metal key from the key fob, press the button (5 in illustration 1.1). To remove the mechanical key, also press the indicated button and insert the key into the key fob until it locks. To order a duplicate key or additional keys from a Skoda representative, you will need to provide the vehicle's VIN number (see Introduction). In order for the new key to be able to control the single lock from the remote control and start the engine, it is necessary to synchronize the key with the remote control receiver (see subsection below) and encode the immobilizer chip (at a service station that has the appropriate diagnostic equipment).
Remote control, key battery replacement
The remote control is designed to control a single lock and its functions (see the description of the single lock in the corresponding subsection below), while outside the vehicle. After the ignition is turned on, the remote control receiver automatically turns off. With a fully charged battery, the range of the remote control can reach up to 30 meters. The purpose of the buttons on the remote control is shown in illustration 1.1.
While inside the car, do not press the lock button on the remote control before inserting the key into the ignition, otherwise the car will be locked from the outside and inside, and the burglar alarm will not turn on. If this happens, press the unlock key on the remote control.
The correct operation of the remote control and its range can be adversely affected by local sources of radio emission. If due to interference at the operating frequency of the remote control, or due to its discharged battery, it is not possible to unlock / lock a single lock from the remote control, use a metal key by inserting it into the lock in the driver's door. If the car can no longer be unlocked using the remote control, you should replace the battery, or synchronize the key with the remote control receiver (see below).
The remote control uses a battery that needs to be replaced periodically. The need to replace the battery can be judged by the gradual decrease in the range of the remote control. In addition, when the battery is discharged, pressing the button on the remote control will not be accompanied by the indicator turning on (2 in illustration 1.1).
Follow the steps below to replace the key fob battery.
1 Flip out the metal key (see subsection above) and turn the key with the buttons down.
2 Press the cover (In illustration 1.2) batteries in place (1) thumb or flathead screwdriver and remove the cover.
1.2 Replacing the key battery
3 Press on the discharged battery at the arrow (2 in illustration 1.2) and remove it from the key.
4 Insert a new battery of the same type marked "+" down (polarity is also indicated on the battery cover).
5 Place the battery cover on the key and press it so that it locks into place with a distinctive sound.
Synchronization of the key with the remote control receiver
After a certain number of presses on the buttons of the remote control outside the range of the remote control receiver, the locks of the car doors will not be able to unlock / lock it from the remote control. In this case, to restore the functionality of the remote control, the key must be synchronized with the remote control receiver, as described below. Also, synchronization is required to use the new key (it can be ordered by VIN number from a Skoda representative), after replacing the remote control receiver, as well as (in some cases) after replacing the remote control battery To synchronize, flip the metal key, press any button on the remote control and unlock the car door with the metal key within a minute.
Single lock
Note: If people or pets remain in the car, they can lock the car from the inside, so always take the key with you to unlock the car from the outside.
Note: If the buttons on the key fob are pressed frequently within a short period of time, the single lock will be briefly disabled to avoid overload.
A single lock goes into a ready-to-work state after closing all doors and the luggage compartment. When the driver's door is open, the car does not lock with the key fob button. All vehicle doors, including the tailgate/luggage compartment lid and the fuel filler cap, can be locked and unlocked from both the outside and the inside of the vehicle at the same time. In addition, a single lock controls the comfort opening/closing function of the windows and sunroof (if available, see Section 5).
Depending on the configuration, through the menu "Setup > Comfort > Central lock" display in the instrument cluster, you can set different algorithms for unlocking / locking the locks (see below). In the same menu, you can turn on / off the automatic locking function at speeds over 15 km / h. After automatic locking, the doors unlock automatically when the key is removed from the ignition switch (if the automatic unlocking function is selected in the indicated menu), or manually (the front doors can be unlocked using the interior release handles or the interior single lock button).
In an accident that deploys the airbags, all vehicle locks are unlocked to allow access for rescuers.
Unlocking/locking a single lock from the outside can be carried out using the remote control, or using a key inserted into the driver's door lock, or through the system "KESSY" (see subsection below). To be able to insert a metal key into the driver's door lock cylinder, first pull the door handle, insert the key into the slot on the underside of the lining (see illustration 1.3) and remove it by lifting it up.
1.3 Providing access to the driver's door lock cylinder
Depending on the item selected in the menu "Settings>Comfort>Center. lock", the algorithm for unlocking from the remote control can be as follows.
- "All doors" - all vehicle doors are unlocked, including the tailgate/luggage compartment lid and the fuel filler flap.
- "Unlocking one door" - only the driver's door is unlocked; to unlock other doors, the unlock button on the remote control must be pressed twice.
- "On the one hand a / m" - only the driver's door and the rear left door are unlocked; to unlock other doors, the unlock button on the remote control must be pressed twice. With keyless entry "Keyless Access" when taken by the door handle, the doors on the side on which the key is found are unlocked.
- "Unlocking with syst. "KESSY" - choice of unlocking on first press: all doors, individual doors, both doors on the left or right side, or front doors.
- "individually" - only the driver's door is unlocked. With keyless entry "Keyless Access" when grasping the front door handle, the corresponding door is unlocked, or the tailgate is unlocked together with the driver's door (see keyless entry description below).
When a single lock is unlocked, all direction indicators flash twice, interior lighting automatically turns on (if it is configured to turn on when the doors are opened) and lamps in the exterior mirrors, and on models without an anti-theft alarm, the indicator in the driver's door stops flashing. If there is a memory function for the position of the seat and exterior mirrors, when the vehicle is unlocked, their position is selected according to the key used.
On models with an anti-theft alarm, after unlocking a single lock with a metal key, only the driver's door, the fuel filler hatch and the tailgate are unlocked; other doors can be unlocked from the inside. If the ignition is not turned on within 15 seconds after this, the anti-theft alarm will sound.
If no door or luggage compartment is opened within 30 seconds after unlocking the single lock, the car will automatically lock (with full lock (see below) and anti-theft system). In this way, if the vehicle is accidentally unlocked, unauthorized access by unauthorized persons is prevented.
On some models, there are two degrees of locking a single lock outside the car: full locking and locking without locking the locks.
When fully locked, the anti-theft system is activated, and opening the doors and windows from inside the car (through individual unlocking handles or a single lock key in the cabin) fail. This makes it difficult to get into the car, because. Even if you break the window, you won't be able to open the door. To completely lock the single lock, press the lock button on the key fob once or turn the key in the driver's door lock once. Full locking should not be used if people remain in the car, as they will not be able to if necessary (e.g. when the interior is overheated in summer or when the interior is cold in winter) get out of it on your own. In addition, if there is a cabin volume sensor, movement in the cabin will lead to false alarms of the anti-theft alarm. When fully locked, the instrument cluster display shows the message "CHECK SAFELOCK" ("Blocking enabled") or "Check deadlock! Owner's manual!". If the full locking function fails, the fuel filler neck is locked.
If, within two seconds after fully locking, the unlock button on the key fob is pressed again / the key is turned in the driver's door lock, locking occurs without locking the locks. In this case, the car can be unlocked and then opened using the single lock button in the passenger compartment, or using individual unlocking handles on the doors. When locking without locking the locks, the anti-theft system is activated, but without the participation of the interior volume and tilt sensors. Lockless locking can be used if people are left in the car (so that the interior volume sensor does not work, and people can get out of the car), or if the car is transported by ferry (no tilt sensor).
When locking a single lock, all direction indicators flash once and the interior lighting automatically turns off. If any door or luggage compartment is not closed when locking, the direction indicators will only flash when the door is closed. The locking status can be judged by the red indicator in the driver's door:
- with full lock (models without anti-theft alarm) the indicator flashes every 2 seconds;
- with full lock (models with anti-theft alarm) the indicator flashes quickly for 2 seconds and then slowly:
- when locking without blocking the locks (models without anti-theft alarm) indicator starts flashing 30 seconds after locking:
- when locking without blocking the locks (models with anti-theft alarm) the indicator flashes rapidly for 2 seconds, then turns off for 30 seconds, and then starts flashing at a low frequency;
- if the indicator blinks rapidly for the first two seconds, then glows continuously for 30 seconds, and then blinks slowly, then the single lock or anti-theft alarm sensors are faulty.
To control a single lock from inside the car, there are keys on the front doors (2 in illustration 1.2): The top side of the key is unlocking, the bottom side is locking. Holding down this key activates the convenience opening/closing function (see Section 5). This key works regardless of the presence and position of the key in the ignition lock. The only condition when the single lock control key from the passenger compartment does not work is the complete locking of the single lock. When locking a single lock from the inside, the doors and the luggage compartment cannot be opened from the outside. This prevents unauthorized access to the passenger compartment, for example, when stopped at a traffic light. Unlike locking the car with the remote control, locking from the inside does not activate the anti-theft system. To unlock and open an individual door after locking from the inside, pull on its inner release handle (in some versions - twice). If a side door is opened when the lock button is pressed, all doors except that door are locked. This prevents the driver from remaining on the outside of the vehicle locked from the inside. In the event of an accident involving the deployment of airbags, doors locked from the inside are automatically unlocked.
Keyless entry system "KESSY"
Note: Unlocking/locking a single lock, as well as starting the engine through the system "KESSY" may not be possible if the battery in the key fob or the car battery is discharged.
Note: Touching the touch surfaces of the pens should be done without gloves or other objects that prevent direct contact between the hand and the sensor.
Keyless entry system "KESSY" allows you to unlock/lock the car and start/stop the engine without taking the key in hand. It is enough that the key is in the detection zone, i.e. no further than 1.5 m from the front door handle or tailgate/trunk lid (see illustration 1.4). A single lock operates in the same way as when controlled from the remote control. Engine start (see Section 21) and vehicle movement is allowed when the key is detected in the vehicle interior.
1.4 Key detection zones (A-D) and touch surfaces for locking (1) and unlocking (2) on the outside door handle
To unlock the single lock, grasp the handle of any front door while touching the surface (2 in illustration 1.4b). In this case, the key should be found next to the front door. You can then pull the handle and open the door. Note: If areas overlap at the same time (1 and 2), the car does not unlock.
To lock a single lock, touch only the surface (1 in illustration 1.4b) once (for complete locking) or twice (for locking without padlocks). The door from which locking is performed must be closed, and on models with manual transmission, the selector lever must be in the position "R". After locking with a surface (1) surface (2) turns off for 2 seconds, allowing you to check the locking (during this time, you can pull the handle, and the door will not open).
The luggage compartment is automatically unlocked by pressing its handle if the key is found near it: if the car is equipped with an electric drive for opening the luggage compartment lid, pressing the handle will open the lid. The luggage compartment locks automatically when it is closed, unless the car is fully unlocked or the key is inside the car. If, after locking all doors and luggage compartment, the key used to lock the vehicle remains in the (D in illustration 1.4), protection against unintentional locking of the key in the vehicle will be activated and the doors will be unlocked again. The inclusion of this protection is indicated by the flashing of the direction indicator lamps and the inscription "Key in vehicle (The key is in the car.) " on the display in the instrument cluster. If the car is equipped with an anti-theft alarm, an additional chime will sound.
Other messages may appear on the display of the instrument cluster in various situations:
"Key not found." ("Key not found.") or "No Key" ("no key"). A message will be displayed if you try to start the engine and the system does not find a suitable key. This can happen if the key is outside the vehicle, the key battery is dead, the key is defective, or there is a strong electromagnetic field in the way. The message is also displayed if the ignition is on or the engine is running and the system cannot find a suitable key.
"Keyless faulty." ("Keyless System Malfunction".) or "CHECK KEYLESS" ("keyless check"). Fault in the KESSY system, contact a service company.
"Renew key battery!" ("Replace the battery in the key!") or "KEY BATTERY" ("key battery"). Low voltage of the key fob battery, replace the battery.
For closing all windows with electric power windows, as well as the sunroof (in the presence of), hold your finger on the touch area for a few seconds (1 in illustration 1.4), until the windows/sunroof are closed. Release the button to interrupt the closing of the windows/sunroof. If you touch the touch area while closing the windows/sunroof (2), the windows and sunroof will open.
If the vehicle is not locked or unlocked within 60 hours, the touch areas in the front right door handle will automatically turn off to save power. If the car is not locked or unlocked within 90 hours, the sensor areas in the driver's door handle. To resume their operation, unlock the vehicle or luggage compartment in any other way.
