1. The design of the timing belt is shown in the illustration.

Note: A cylinder head with cracks between the valve seats can be used without reducing the service life of the engine if these cracks are not too large and not wider than 0.5 mm. Processing of the valves and their seats, except for grinding, is not allowed.


2. The installation of camshafts must be carried out only using the T40094 device, otherwise the axial bearings in the bed will be damaged and the cylinder head will need to be replaced. Due to the limited availability of this tool, the description of replacing camshafts is not included.

3. To replace the valve stem seals, special tools are also required. The procedure is carried out in analogy with the description given for 1.8 l engines (see Section 31).
