Attention! Observe the general safety regulations when handling the pyrotechnic modules for airbags, seat belt pretensioners and the battery disconnector. Observe the special instructions for the airbag for the driver and front passenger. Electrostatic discharge can cause airbags to deploy. Therefore, before disconnecting the activation and ground wires, you must remove the electrostatic charge from yourself. To do this, you can, for example, touch the body or the pawl of the door lock with your hand.
Disconnect battery terminals. Remove the glove box on the front passenger side from the front panel together with the bracket. Unplug connector -4- for igniter 1 for front passenger airbag.
To do this, unlock catch -2- with a small screwdriver -arrow- and unplug connector -1-.
Remove screws -2- (7 Nm) and -3- (7 Nm). Remove front passenger airbag module -1- downwards.
Carefully! Lay the airbag module soft side up.
Installation
Installation in reverse order.
Note: Check that the connector is well connected and clicks into place audibly. Make sure that the wires are not pinched anywhere.
Connect connector -1- to airbag igniter -arrow a-. Press the latch -2- of the connector in the direction of -arrow B-, in this case the connector is brought to the stop and at the same time is fixed in the igniter.
Note: Before screwing in the screws, make sure to clean the threads of the screws themselves and their nuts in the front panel.
Turn on the ignition. Connect battery terminals.
Removing and installing a switch with a lock to turn off the front passenger airbag
Attention! When working on airbags, observe the general safety regulations for handling the pyrotechnic modules for airbags, seat belt pretensioners and the battery disconnector.
Switch off the ignition. Remove the glove box on the front passenger side from the front panel together with the bracket. Press lock -1- in -arrow- to unlock connector. Disconnect connector -2-. Unlock spring clips -3- and -5-. Push switch -4- out of housing.
Installation
Note: Check that the connector is well connected and clicks into place audibly. Make sure that the wires are not pinched anywhere.
Check that the switch snaps into place in the housing with an audible click.
