Press the hinge in until it stops.
Put on the retaining ring.

Pressing in the inner joint
Note. Chamfer on the inner diameter of the hub (spline connection) should be directed towards the drive shaft belt.
Tension clamping collar on the outer hinge
Install the collet, e.g. -VAG 1682- as illustrated. When doing this, make sure that the jaws of the collet chuck rest at the corners of the collar -arrows B-.
Tighten the clamping collar by turning the screw using a wrench with a calibrated tightening torque (in this case, the collet chuck must not be turned).
Note.
- Tightening can only be done with a collet, e.g. -VAG 1682-. since the protective collar is made of a hard material (compared to rubber) and therefore a stainless steel collar must be used.
- Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
- Use a wrench with a calibrated tightening torque -C-.
- Make sure that the thread of the screw -A- of the collet is easy to move. If necessary, lubricate it with grease.
- In the case of a stiff screw, e.g. Due to contamination of the thread, it is not possible to achieve the required tightening torque for the clamping collar with the specified tightening torque.
