Note: Depending on the transmission installed, one of two front drive shaft options may be installed: "VL100" (without cover between inner hinge and drive flange) or "VL107" (with cover between inner hinge and drive flange). Illustrations explaining the differences in front drive shafts are provided in Section 5.

Front drive shafts

6. Pull the drive shaft out of the hub by hand.

7. Remove any paint or rust from the outer CV joint threads and splines. Insert the outer CV joint into the front wheel hub splines as far as possible.

8. Tighten the new suspension arm to ball joint mounting nuts to 100 Nm.

9. Position the inner CV joint and tighten its new bolts diagonally to 10 Nm, then tighten them to 40 Nm (M8 bolts) or 70 Nm (M10 bolts).

10. Install soundproofing.

11. Tighten the hub bolt following the sequence described in Section 2.

Rear drive shafts

12. Remove the hub bolt (see Section 2) and remove the rear wheel.

13. Remove the rear suspension spring (see Chapter 10).

14. Unscrew the bolt (1 in illustration 3.20b) fastenings of the guide arm and the bolt (3) fastening the lower arm of the rear suspension to the hub assembly holder (4).

15. Remove the lower bolt (see illustration 3.19) shock absorber mounts.

16. Remove the rear left suspension height sensor (see Chapter 10), if necessary, unhooking the rear muffler from the right suspensions.

17. Loosen the drive shaft fastener on the rear differential flange.

18. Tilt the hub assembly holder outward and remove the drive shaft by pulling it out of the internal splines.

19. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Tighten the drive shaft mounting bolts to the rear differential flange in a diagonal order, first to 10 Nm, then to 20 Nm, and finally to 180°.
