Attention. Be extremely careful when connecting the battery after assembly.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and wait at least three minutes before starting any work.
2. Remove the front airbag module from the driver's side (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Passive safety).
3. Remove the frame of the instrument panel together with the upper panel of the steering column lining (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
4. Remove the lower steering column trim panel assembly (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
5. Remove the universal steering column switches from the steering column.
6. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the ignition switch (1) and immobilizer read coil (2). as shown in the picture below.
7. Remove the steering wheel lock and ignition lock assembly.
8. Unscrew the fastening screws (arrows) (drill out the bolts), shown in the figure below.
9. Remove the steering wheel lock assembly.
Installation
1. Install the steering wheel lock, then install and tighten the new mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts until the head breaks.
2. Install the ignition switch and steering wheel lock assembly.
3. Connect the wiring harness connectors to the immobilizer reader coil and to the ignition switch.
4. Install the steering column switches on the steering column.
5. Install the lower steering column trim panel assembly (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
6. Install the upper steering column trim panel together with the instrument panel frame (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Body).
7. Install the steering wheel assembly.
8. Install driver's airbag module (for details, see the relevant section in chapter Passive safety).
9. Connect the battery.
10. Reset diagnostic system errors.
