Attention: To prevent the winding from burning out, this check should be performed as quickly as possible (no more than 10 sec).
1. Disconnect the excitation winding wire from the "M" terminal of the traction relay.
2. Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the "S" terminal and the negative terminal to the "M" terminal and to the starter housing.

3. Connect the excitation winding wire to terminal "M".
4. If the drive gear shifts to the engagement position, the relay pull-in winding is OK. If this does not happen, replace the traction relay.
5. Disconnect the negative wire from terminal "M".
6. If the gear does not move, the holding coil of the electromagnet is working normally.

7. If the gear returns back to its original position when the negative wire is disconnected from the housing, the unit is working properly.
