A diesel particulate filter (DPF) is used in the exhaust system of some diesel models to remove soot from the exhaust gases. Models with a diesel particulate filter have a PR number of 7GG, 7MB or 7MG on the vehicle data sticker. The filter is periodically cleaned by burning off the soot that has accumulated in it (regeneration process), which is accompanied by significant heating of the filter. The regeneration process occurs automatically. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to provide conditions under which the filter regeneration occurs. The corresponding K/L in the instrument cluster is intended to indicate the need to clean the filter (see section 13). When the engine is running, exhaust system components can reach very high temperatures - try not to touch hot components and do not park the car on areas covered with flammable materials (fallen leaves, dry grass, garbage, etc.).
Ensure that the engine settings and adjustments are correct. Deviations in the settings of the operating parameters of the ignition, fuel injection and engine management systems can lead to dangerous over-enrichment of the air-fuel mixture and overheating of the catalytic converter. If misfires occur, the operation of the vehicle should be suspended until the causes of the malfunction are eliminated.
Unburned fuel from the combustion chamber during misfires enters the converter, where it can easily ignite. For the same reason, you should avoid starting the engine by towing or pushing; it is better to use an auxiliary battery. Do not crank the engine for a long time, do not try to start the engine with the spark plugs disconnected.

Monitor fuel consumption, try not to allow it to run out completely, which is usually associated with misfires (see previous paragraph).
