Steering system (Skoda Superb B6)

The car has an electromechanical power steering rather than a hydraulic one, which simplifies the maintenance of the steering and reduces fuel consumption. The power steering motor operates only when necessary. The power steering coefficient depends on the vehicle speed, steering wheel torque and front wheel angle. The power steering operates only when the engine is running.

To assist the driver in skidding, the power steering has a reverse steering function, also called Active Steering Support (DSR). This function consists of creating additional force to help the driver turn the steering wheel in the direction of the skid.

Note: This feature does not control the vehicle without driver intervention.

To monitor the status of the power steering and the steering column lock mechanism, use the corresponding indicator lamp in the instrument cluster (see Section 13).
