Replacement
1. Open the hood, remove the protective cap and loosen the nut, holding the hex rod from turning. After that, remove the rack from the car.
2. Remove plate 11 (see fig. Details of the front suspension strut) supports from the rack.
3. Loosen nut 2 and remove bolt 3.
4. Insert a large screwdriver into the slot and carefully open the knuckle 1 at the shock absorber strut mount 4.
5. Remove the steering knuckle from the rack.
6. Clamp the rack in a vise so as not to crush its body.
7. Compress the spring with 7 special ties.
8. Unscrew the nut 10 of the shock absorber rod, holding the rod from turning with a hexagon.
9. Remove support 9 with bearing 8.
10. Remove spring 7.
11. If necessary, remove the protective cover 6 with the compression buffer 5.
12. Replace a damaged compression buffer and a cracked, torn, or loose protective cover.
13. Replace the bearing if it has axial play, there are traces of lubricant leakage from under the protective rings, the bearing seizes when turning and corrosion.
14. Replace the spring if cracks are found or the coils are deformed. Depending on the stiffness of the spring, they are marked with paint. Install a new spring with the same markings that were on the old one. If the markings on the old spring are not visible, consult a Skoda workshop. It is recommended to replace the springs on both sides.
15. Set the shock absorber vertically and lower and raise the shock absorber rod several times until it stops. Then make sure that it moves without dips, jams and knocks. Otherwise, replace the stand. The shock absorber strut should also be replaced if there are signs of fluid leakage and damage to the threads in the upper part of the rod.
16. Replace cracked, bent support and cymbal.
17. Assemble the telescopic pole in reverse order. At the same time, replace the nuts of the rod and the coupling bolt with new ones.
