Tire repair kit (Skoda Rapid NH1)

Note: Valid for vehicles with a puncture repair kit.

The tire repair kit is located in the luggage compartment under the false floor.



At the lower end of the valve spinner (1) there is a slot for the valve spinner. This device is used to spin the valve spinner out of the wheel valve and screw it back in. The device also fits the spare valve spinner (11).

Check the expiration date of the sealant. After the expiration date, the sealant cannot be used. A new container of sealant can be purchased from a Volkswagen service center.

Dispose of sealant container properly.

When using a tire repair kit, also follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Preliminary preparation of the tire repair kit



Small punctures (diameter up to 4 mm), especially in a treadmill, can be sealed with a tire repair kit.

If a tire is punctured, park the car as far away from the road as possible. If necessary, turn on the hazard warning lights and put up an emergency stop sign, as required by traffic regulations.

• Remove the compressor and sealant can from the luggage compartment
• Remove the sticker and stick it on the dashboard in front of the driver.
• Do not remove the foreign body (for example, a screw or a nail) from the tire.
• Remove the valve core from the tire valve.
• Using the supplied valve core removal tool, unscrew the valve core and place it on a clean surface.
• Shake the contents of the container with sealant.

Sealing and inflating a tire

Using a tire repair kit, you can eliminate air leaks from a leaky tire and inflate it.

Tire sealing

Screw the hose (3) onto the container with sealant. The protective film on the plug will be pressed through.

Remove the blind plug from the hose (3) and place the open end of the hose on the valve.

Inject all of the sealant from the container into the tire, holding the container upside down.



Remove the empty container from the valve and, using the tool (1), screw the valve core back into the valve.

Inflating a tire

Screw the hose (5) onto the valve.

Check that the air bleed screw (7) is tightened.

Start the engine and let it run.

Insert the plug (9) into the vehicle's 12-volt socket.

Switch on the compressor using the switch (8) for a maximum of six minutes.

The compressor should inflate the tire to a pressure of 2.0 to 2.5 bar. This should take no more than eight minutes.

When the tire pressure reaches 2.0-2.5 bar, turn off the compressor.

If you cannot obtain this pressure, disconnect the hose from the valve and place the compressor in the vehicle.

Move the vehicle approximately ten meters forward or backward to ensure that the sealant is evenly distributed around the circumference of the tire.

Remove the compressor, screw the hose onto the valve and try to inflate the wheel again.

If the required pressure is not reached this time, the damage to the tire is too great. It will not be possible to make the tire airtight again. Stay where you are and wait for help.

Disconnect the compressor and disconnect the hose from the wheel valve.

If you have managed to create a pressure of 2.0 to 2.5 bar in the tire, start driving immediately, but the speed should not exceed 80 km/h.

After ten minutes of driving, check the tire pressure. Attach the hose (5) and read the pressure reading on the pressure gauge (6).

If after ten minutes of driving the pressure is below 1.3 bar, do not drive any further. The tire could not be sealed again. Wait for help.



If after ten minutes of driving the pressure is higher than 1.3 bar, adjust the tire pressure to the nominal pressure (see sticker on fuel filler flap).

Drive to the nearest tire repair shop at a speed of up to 80 km/h.

Repair or replace the damaged tire.

Note

• The tire repair kit is only intended to get you to the nearest repair shop in the event of a tire damage. Repair or replace the damaged tire. Read and follow the instructions included with the tire repair kit. Foreign body (for example, a screw or a nail) do not remove from the tire.
• The tyre repair kit can be used at temperatures down to -20°C.
• Check the expiration date of the sealant. Replace the sealant after the expiration date or after using the tire repair kit.

A container of sealant can be purchased from a Volkswagen service centre.

Attention.

If a tire is punctured, park the vehicle as far away from the road as possible. If necessary, turn on the hazard warning lights and put up an emergency stop sign as required by traffic regulations.

• Cuts and punctures of a tire larger than 4 mm, damage to a tire due to too low pressure in it, damage to the wheel rim are extremely dangerous! Stay where you are and seek help.
• When inflating a tire, the hose may become hot.
• If after inflating the tire the air pressure has not risen to at least 2.0 bar, you cannot move any further - seek help.
• If after ten minutes of driving the tire pressure has dropped below 1.3 bar, you cannot drive any further – you should contact the nearest tire repair shop.
• With a tire sealed in this way, you cannot drive faster than 80 km/h - risk of accident!
• You should refrain from rapid acceleration, sharp braking and high-speed cornering.
• Be careful not to let the sealant get on your skin or in your eyes - it's dangerous!
• Keep sealant out of reach of children!
• Switch off the compressor no later than after 8 minutes of operation, otherwise there is a risk of overheating! Give the compressor a couple of minutes to cool down before switching it on again.
