Knock sensor and its location on the engine block
1 – knock sensor
Knock – detonation combustion – the control unit determines based on the voltage signal from the knock sensor. Knock adjustment is performed for each cylinder separately. The control unit shifts the ignition timing back to lower values with a step of 0.5°–2° until the moment of eliminating detonation. The maximum value is 15°. If no detonation is detected, the ignition timing is returned back according to the control field. In the absence of a signal from the knock sensor, the ignition timing is gradually reduced down to 15°. As a result, of course, the engine power is reduced. The knock sensor is screwed on the rear side of the engine block.
