Starter — General Information (Skoda Octavia 1U)

Three types of starters are used alternatively in Skoda Octavia cars. All of them have high-speed electric motors with sequential excitation, designed for short-term operation. The speed reducer is a planetary gearbox with three satellites. The reducer is located between the electric motor and the disengaging mechanism with a gear. The gear is switched on in the usual way, the so-called electromagnetic clutch switch, which simultaneously switches on the electric motor.

The 0.9 kW starter is designed for a 1.6–55 kW petrol engine; a 1.1 kW starter is installed for operation with 1.8–92 kW engines. 1.8 kW starters are installed on vehicles with 1.9 TDI–66 kW diesel engines.

Attention! In case of any damage, starters are subject to repair at the Skoda service.
