Bringing the rear suspension to the damper rebound position corresponding to the curb weight
Note: The bolts of the suspension components with silent blocks must only be tightened when unloaded (corresponding curb weight) — a / m do not load!
Curb weight
Weight of vehicle ready for operation (with fully filled fuel tank, windshield and headlight washer reservoir, spare wheel and jack (if they are included in the vehicle package), tool kit, without driver). The spare wheel, tool kit and jack must be in the places provided by the manufacturer. Rubber-metal hinges (silent blocks) have a limited working range of twisting. Therefore, suspension parts with silent blocks should be tightened in a position corresponding to the curb weight of the vehicle. Otherwise, internal stresses will occur in the silent block, which will lead to a decrease in the service life of this part. The working position of the suspension can be simulated on a lifting platform by raising the suspension using an engine and transmission jack, eg -VAG 1383A-, and support -T10149-. Before starting work, measure, for example, using a tape measure, dimension -a- from the center of the wheel hub to the lower edge of the wing.
This measurement is important to carry out on an unloaded vehicle (in equipped condition), standing on the floor. Write down the received value. It will be necessary for the final tightening of bolts and nuts. Before the suspension of the respective wheel is raised, the vehicle must be secured with straps -T10038- to the console arm of the lift.
Attention! Otherwise, it may slide off the lift.
Remove wheel. Rotate the hub so that one of the wheel bolt holes is at the top. Screw support bracket -T10149- to hub with wheel bolt. The final tightening of the corresponding bolts should be carried out only after reaching the dimension -a- measured before starting work, between the middle of the wheel hub and the lower edge of the wing. Raise hub with engine and transmission jack, eg -VAG 1383A-, until dimension -a- is reached.
Attention! It is forbidden to raise or lower the vehicle when the jack for engines and transmission units is under the vehicle. Do not leave the engine and transmission jack -VAG 1333A- under the vehicle longer than necessary.
Tighten the appropriate bolts/nuts to the specified torque. lower suspension (hub). Remove engine and transmission jack -VAG 1383A- from under vehicle. Remove support bracket -T10149-. Remove belt -T10038-.
