Attention. Do not connect electrified gauges to airbag terminals. Spontaneous operation of the squib is possible and, as a result, serious injury.
Note. Repair of elements of the passive safety system is not provided. In case of failure, the damaged element is replaced as an assembly.
Attention. Before starting any work, turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
Attention.
- The crash sensor must always be replaced after the airbags have deployed.
- Replace the shock sensor if it has been dropped.
Attention.
- Always replace the fastening nuts after disassembly and assembly.
- Be extremely careful when installing the sensor to avoid damaging its wiring harness.
Attention. Always tighten the bolts and nuts securing the elements of the passive restraint system to the specified tightening torque. Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the entire security system assembly.
Note. Check and make sure that the contact surfaces on the shock sensor and the support are clean.
Note. Mark the location of the mouth-side protrusion on the shock sensor for its correct installation.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
2. Remove rear fender liner (see the relevant section in chapter Body).
3. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (3), shown in the figure below.
4. Unscrew the fastening screw (1) and remove the side impact sensor assembly (2), as shown in the figure below. Mounting screw tightening torque during installation: 9 Nm.
Installation
1. Installation is made in reverse order to removal.
