Warning. Do not connect electrified measuring devices to the airbag terminals. This may cause spontaneous activation of the squib and, as a result, serious injuries.
Note. Repair of the passive safety system components is not provided. In case of failure, the damaged component is replaced as an assembly.
Attention: Before starting any work, turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
Attention.
- The impact sensor must always be replaced after the airbags have been deployed.
- Replace the shock sensor if it has fallen.
Attention.
- Always replace the fastening nuts after disassembly and assembly.
- Be extremely careful when installing the sensor to avoid damaging its wiring harness.
Attention. Always tighten bolts and nuts securing the passive safety system components to the specified tightening torque. Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the entire safety system assembly.
Note: Check and ensure that the contact surfaces on the shock sensor and support are clean.
Note: Mark the location of the mounting lug on the shock sensor to ensure proper installation.
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
2. Remove the lower part of the B-pillar trim panel (see the relevant section in the Body chapter).
3. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (3) shown in the figure below.
4. Loosen the mounting screw (1) and remove the side impact sensor (2) as shown in the figure below. Tightening torque of the mounting screw during installation: 9 Nm.

Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Caution: Be extremely careful when connecting the negative terminal to the battery.
