Caution: If transmission oil leaks are found during inspection of the gearbox, the gearbox may be faulty.
1. Raise the car on a lift.
2. Place a container under the gearbox oil pan to collect the transmission oil.
3. Unscrew the automatic transmission drain plug, shown in the figure below by the arrow.
4. Drain all transmission oil from the gearbox into a previously prepared container.
5. Install and tighten the drain plug to a torque of 30 Nm as shown in the figure below.
Note: Fresh transmission oil is added through the vent hole.
Note: If work is carried out on the gearbox in the engine compartment, then to access the ventilation breather, it is necessary to remove the air filter housing or the battery together with the support plate.
6. Remove the air filter assembly (see the relevant section in the chapter Intake and Exhaust System).
7. Remove the battery and the battery support plate (see the corresponding section in the chapter Engine electrical equipment).
8. Remove the plug from the transmission breather as shown in the figure below.
9. Install a special adapter (VAS 6262/4) on the gearbox ventilation breather. Connect a special pipe (VAS 6262A) to the adapter, as shown in the figure below.
Note.
- There is no way to check the transmission oil level in the gearbox.
- It is necessary to strictly observe the volume of transmission oil being poured.
- Too little or too much transmission oil will impair the operation of the gearbox.
- Before filling the gearbox, the container with transmission fluid must be shaken several times.
10. Screw a special adapter (VAS6262/6) onto the transmission oil container, as shown in the figure below. Then connect the container to the hose.
11. Pour 1.7 liters of transmission oil into the gearbox.
Note: There is no way to check the transmission fluid level in this transmission.
12. After filling the gearbox with fresh transmission oil, remove the adapter from the gearbox breather.
Note: Clean adjacent surfaces with a clean cloth.
13. Install the plug on the ventilation breather.
14. Install the support and battery assembly (see the relevant section in Chapter Engine electrical equipment).
15. Install the air filter housing assembly.
