Note.
- Make sure the vehicle is in a horizontal position.
- Selector lever - in position "R", leave the engine to idle.
- The air conditioner and heater are off.
- The temperature of the ATF must not exceed 30°C at the beginning of the check; if necessary, the gearbox must first be allowed to cool down.
- The ATF fluid level varies depending on the temperature of the ATF fluid.
- ATF level monitoring at low ATF temperature leads to overfilling. Controlling the ATF level at high ATF temperatures results in under-filling, which disrupts the operation of the transmission.
- Only the ATF supplied as a spare part can be used in the 09G automatic transmission. The use of other fluids or oils will cause malfunctions or failure of the transmission.
Liquid level check
Note.
- The ATF fluid level is checked through the ATF fluid control screw plug.
- The ATF liquid level is normal if it flows out at the ATF liquid temperature in the range of 35°and 45°С in the area of the screw plug for control (in countries with a warm climate - 50°C) only a very small amount of ATF (due to an increase in the level as a result of heating).
1. Fill the ATF filling device for 09G automatic transmission.
Attention. The ATF filling device must be clean, ATF must not be mixed with other liquids.
2. Mount the ATF reservoir on the vehicle as high as possible.
3. Position the vehicle on a four-post lift or over an inspection ditch so that it is level.
4. Remove the lower engine cover.
5. Place a trap pan under the gearbox.
Attention.
- When working near the cooler, ensure that there is a sufficient distance from the fan - risk of injury.
- The fan may work by itself.
6. Start the engine and let it run at idle speed.
7. As soon as the temperature of the ATF reaches 35°C, unscrew the screw plug to control the ATF (A).
Attention. Wear protective goggles.
8. O-ring needs to be replaced (arrow) screw plug for ATF control.
Note.
- First, the ATF flows out of the bypass tube (arrow 2).
- The ATF fluid level is normal if the ATF fluid, even before reaching a temperature of 40°C, continues to drip (approximately 1 drop per second) through the bypass tube from the control hole.
9. Install on the ATF control screw (arrow 1) new O-ring and tighten to the correct torque. This completes the control of the ATF fluid.
Note.
- The ATF control screw must be closed again at the latest at a temperature of 45°C (in countries with a warm climate - 50°C)
- If no amount of ATF fluid flows out of the inspection hole up to a temperature of 45°C, then ATF fluid must be added.
