14.1 Installation details of the center console and its components

2. To remove the armrest, remove the back panel (15) and unscrew the screws (7 and 8).
3. To remove the rear ashtray (13), open it, press the latches on both sides, carefully press the ashtray out of the rear panel (15) and disconnect the backlight connector.
4. To remove the rear panel (15), remove the trim (9) and rear ashtray (13), and then remove the screws (14).
5. The following describes the removal of the center console.
6. Turn off the ignition and unhook the transmission control lever boot from the center console (see Chapter 6 or 7). Disconnect the switch connectors.
7. Loosen the ashtray mounting screws (1), remove the rear ashtray (13) and unhook the cover (9).
8. Depending on the equipment, disconnect the connectors of the cigarette lighter, clock and rear seat heating switch.
9. Remove the bolts (14) securing the rear panel (15).
10. Remove the armrest (6) and unhook the left cover (17).
11. Unscrew the bolts (18 and 19), apply the parking brake, engage 4th gear (on models with manual transmission) or move the selector lever back (on models with DSG).
12. Tilt the center console forward and carefully remove it.
