The rear coil spring is made of round steel wire. Its extreme, end coils are folded into a cone into a smaller diameter and simultaneously form a centering and mounting element. In the upper part, a rubber cone is screwed into the spring, with which it rests in a pit in the body. In the lower part, the spring is inserted into the socket of the punch welded to the upper surface of the spring holder, which is part of the rear axle oscillating console. At this point, a galvanized sheet gasket is placed under the spring.
The rear springs are almost under the floor of the vehicle and therefore do not reduce the surface area of the luggage compartment floor.
Dismantling of the rear springs is possible only if the rear axle is removed.
The rear springs for all versions and modifications of Skoda Octavia cars of the 1997 model are the same. They are indicated either by a green stripe or have no designation at all.
