The rear telescopic vibration dampers are independent assembly units. They are placed outside the rear springs and inserted from behind. In the lower part, they are fixed in brackets placed on the lower consoles of the rear axle. Fastening is carried out with a horizontally oriented bolt M 10, threaded through the holes in the bracket.
A lower eyelet is inserted between its struts, welded to the shock absorber casing.
There is a rubber cushion in the eyelet, which acts as a silentblok after being compressed by the bolt.
In the upper part of the shock absorber rod ends with a spherical surface in contact with the concave spherical surface of the holder. For this holder, the shock absorber is attached with two bolts to the body. The described design allows the shock absorber to oscillate easily at the top.
The rear telescopic shock absorbers, as well as the coil springs of the rear axle, are the same for all modifications of Skoda Octavia cars manufactured in 1996.
