The rear telescopic shock absorbers are independent mounting units. They are located outside the rear springs and inserted from behind. At the bottom, they are secured in brackets located on the lower consoles of the rear axle. Fastening is carried out with a horizontally oriented bolt M 10, threaded through the holes in the bracket.

A lower eye is inserted between its struts and welded to the shock absorber casing.

The eye has a rubber cushion which acts as a silent block after compression by the bolt.

At the top, the shock absorber rod ends with a spherical surface that contacts the concave spherical surface of the holder. The shock absorber is attached to the body with two bolts by this holder. The described design allows the shock absorber to easily oscillate in the upper part.

The rear telescopic shock absorbers, as well as the rear axle coil springs, are the same for all modifications of Skoda Octavia cars produced in 1996.
