Removal and installation the brake caliper (PC 38 HRA) (Skoda Octavia 5E)

The following procedure is only valid for replacing or subsequently repairing the brake caliper. Remove the wheels. Press the lever "2" in the "direction of the arrow" and disconnect the parking brake cable "3". Release the spring bushing "1" of the parking brake cable from the holder on the brake caliper. Attach the air bleed hose to the brake caliper bleed nipple and then open the bleed nipple. Press with a brake pedal depressor, such as, "V.A.G 1869/2" brake pedal at least 60 mm. Close the bleed nipple and remove the suction. Unscrew the brake pipe.



Loosen the brake shield mounting screws, holding the guide pin to prevent it from turning. Loosen the brake caliper mounting from the brake shield.

Installation

The piston is set to its original position. The brake shoes are seated in retaining springs on the brake caliper. Secure the brake caliper with new self-locking screws to the brake shield. Screw the brake pipe to the brake caliper. Bleed the brake system. Install the handbrake cable. Adjust the parking brake. Install the wheels.

Note: Follow the instructions for replacing the brake pads. Press the brake pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary until the brake pads are in their working position. Check the brake fluid level.
