Remove the wheel. Partially remove the rear mudguard. Place a jack for engines and transmission units "VAG 1383A" with a mount for the gearbox under the lower wishbone "V.A.G 1359/2". Raise the transverse arm enough to set dimension "a". Unscrew the bolts "arrows".
Unscrew screw "2" and nut "1". Remove the shock absorber.
Installation
Installation in reverse order.
Note: The shock absorber can only be screwed to the wishbone when the dimension "a" between the center of the hub and the lower edge of the wheel arch corresponds to a certain value (gross curb weight)!
Install the shock absorber and tighten the arrow bolts.
Tighten bolt "2" with nut "1". Install the mudguard. Install the wheel and tighten its mounting bolts.
Removing and installing the spring on the left side
Remove the wheel. Press inward the projections of the "arrows" of the auxiliary device "1". Remove the device "1".
Install spring clamp "3".
Attention! Ensure proper seating of the coil spring in the grip, e.g. "VAG 1752/ZA", (danger of accident).
Compress the spring until it can be removed. Remove the spring.

2. Capture, eg. "V.A.G 1752J3A"
3. Spring tensioner, eg. "V.A.G 1752/1"
Installation in reverse order. Check the spring lining for damage, replace if necessary.
Note: The end of the spring coil "arrow" must be adjacent to the stop of the lower spring gasket.
Install the spring together with the lining. The spring lining projection must be inserted into the hole in the lower transverse arm "arrow". Install the upper lining on the upper coil of the spring. Release the spring. In this case, the recess in the upper spring lining must be aligned with the corresponding lining on the body. Remove the device for compressing the suspension springs. Install the wheel and tighten its mounting bolts.
Removing and installing the spring on the right side
Determine the dimension "a". Remove the wheel. Press inward the projections of the "arrow" of the auxiliary device "1". Remove the device "1". Install the spring compressor "3".
Attention! Ensure proper seating of the coil spring in the grip, e.g. "VAG 175273A", (danger of accident).

3. Spring tensioner, eg. "V.A.G 1752/1"
4. Spring
Compress the spring. Unscrew bolt "2" with nut "1".
Unscrew bolt "3" with nut "2".
Remove the spring.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. Check the spring lining for damage, replace if necessary,
Note: The end of the spring coil "arrow" must be adjacent to the stop of the lower spring gasket.
Install the spring together with the lining. The protrusion of the spring lining must be inserted into the hole of the lower transverse arm "arrow". Install the upper lining on the upper coil of the spring. Release the spring. In this case, the recess of the upper spring lining must be aligned with the corresponding protrusion on the body. Install and tighten the lower bolt securing the shock absorber to the bearing housing, tighten in a position corresponding to the curb weight. Remove the suspension spring clamp. Install the wheel and tighten its mounting bolts.
