18. Check the shock absorber body/strut, or the rubber protective boot around the piston rod for leaks. If any fluid is seen, the unit is defective and should be replaced.

Note: Shock absorbers/struts are replaced in pairs on the axle.


19. The effectiveness of the shock absorber can be checked by rocking the car on each corner. The body should return to its normal position and stop immediately after releasing it. If it rocks, the shock absorber unit is probably faulty. Also check the condition of the upper and lower mounts.
