Removal and installation the balance shaft of the exhaust camshaft (Skoda Octavia 5E)

The engine is removed. Remove the upper timing chain cover. Remove the lower timing chain cover. Remove the camshaft drive chain. Remove the balance shaft drive chain. Unscrew the screw "1" of the inlet camshaft balance shaft and remove the balance shaft.

Installation

Check the mounting position of the balance shaft tube, the "arrow" holes should face the drive chain.



Lubricate the bearings of the balance shaft "arrows" with engine oil. Install the balance shaft of the exhaust camshaft.



Before tightening screw "1", check whether the balance shaft is parallel to the cylinder block.

Note: If the balance shaft is not parallel, the balance shaft tube must be reinserted.

Installation in reverse order. Install the balance shaft drive chain. Install the camshaft drive chain. Install the lower timing chain cover.

Install the upper timing chain cover.
