Remove screws -1...6-. Press the crankshaft cover on the gearbox side.
Installation
Remove sealant residue from sealing surfaces on cylinder block and oil pan with a chemical sealant remover. Degrease mating surfaces. Cut off the tip of the sealant tube at the front mark (hole diameter about 2mm). Apply silicone sealant -arrow- as shown in the figure to the clean mating surfaces of the crankshaft cover on the gearbox side. Thickness of the sealant bead: 2...3 mm.
Fit guide sleeve -T20097- onto crankshaft journal. Push crankshaft cover over guide sleeve -T20097- onto crankshaft journal.
Note: The crankshaft cover on the gearbox side must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the silicone sealant. The sealant strip should not be wider than prescribed, because otherwise, excess sealant will enter the oil sump and clog the strainer in the oil intake pipe.
Install the crankshaft cover on the gearbox side immediately and tighten the screws in the sequence shown as follows. Tighten the screws in 2 steps in the sequence shown.
Note: Only 6 screws are screwed in, 2 threaded holes remain free.
