Remove screw -1-. Unclip guide tube for oil dipstick from mount on upper timing chain cover -arrow-. Pos. -2- can be ignored.
Remove screws -1 to 6- and remove upper timing chain cover. Unscrew screws -3, 5- if necessary.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. Replace sealing rings.
Attention! Risk of clogging of the lubrication system with sealant residues. Cover the exposed part of the oil pan with a clean cloth.
Remove any remaining sealant from the bearing cap. Clean mating surfaces of oil and grease.
Note: The sealant must not be expired (see expiry date).
Cut off the tip of the sealant tube at the front mark (hole diameter about 1.5mm),
Attention! Danger of clogging the lubrication system due to excess sealant. The sealant strip should not be thicker than specified.
Apply a bead of sealant to the clean mating surfaces -arrows- as shown. Sealant strip thickness: 2 mm.
Note: The upper timing chain cover must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the sealant.
Install the upper timing chain cover.
The tightening sequence of the screws securing the upper casing of the timing chain
Tighten screws -1 to 6- in sequence shown. Tighten screws to 9 Nm. Install valve 1 for camshaft adjuster -N205- and valve 1 for camshaft adjuster for exhaust valves -N318-.
