Remove the intermediate shaft toothed pulley "1".

Unscrew screw "2" of the balance shaft of the intake camshaft and remove the balance shaft.

Installation
Lubricate the balance shaft bearings "arrows" with engine oil.

Install the balance shaft of the intake camshaft and tighten the screw "2". Replace the sealing ring "1" and lubricate it with engine oil. Lubricate the support pin with engine oil and push it into the cylinder block so that the landing pin "arrow" enters the hole in the cylinder block.
Caution! It is necessary to replace the intermediate gear of the balance shaft. Otherwise, the gear will run out - engine damage! The new intermediate shaft sprocket is coated with varnish. Soon this varnish will wear off, and the lateral clearance of the teeth will be adjusted automatically due to this.

Mark the side surfaces of two adjacent intermediate shaft gear teeth with "arrow" paint. Push in the intermediate shaft gear, the marking on the balance shaft should be located between the marks on the side surfaces of the intermediate shaft gear teeth. Insert a new intermediate shaft gear fastening screw "1" and tighten as follows.

- 1. Pre-tighten to 10 Nm.
- 2. Turn the intermediate shaft gear. The intermediate shaft gear should not have any play. If so, loosen and tighten again.
- 3. Then tighten to a torque of 25 Nm.
- 4. Using a rigid wrench, turn it an additional 90° (¼ turn).
Check the marking of the intermediate shaft/balance shaft gear "arrow".
Installation is in the reverse order. Install the balance shaft drive chain. Install the camshaft drive chain. Install the lower timing chain cover. Install the upper timing chain cover. Replace the intake camshaft balance shaft sealing ring. Install the coolant pump drive toothed belt.
