Checking oil pressure

1. Remove the oil pressure drop switch and install (V.A.G 1342).

2. Install the oil pressure drop switch-sensor in (V.A.G 1342).

3. Start the engine (engine oil temperature is at least 80°C).
  • oil pressure at idle speed: minimum 0.08 MPa (0.8 bar);
  • oil pressure at 2000 rpm: minimum 0.2 MPa 2 bar);
  • at higher speeds, the oil pressure must not exceed 0.6 MPa (6 bar) for a 1.2 l engine and 0.7 MPa (7 bar) for 1.4 l and 1.6 l petrol engines and diesel engines.

4. If the required value is not achieved:

For gasoline engines:
  • repair mechanical damage, such as damage to a support;
  • replace the oil pump with the safety valve.

For diesel engines:
  • replace the oil pump.

5. If the required value is exceeded:

For gasoline engines:
  • check the lubrication channels;
  • if necessary, replace the oil pump with the safety valve.

For diesel engines:
  • replace the oil filter holder.

Operation of the dynamic low oil pressure warning device

1. If there is no pressure, the hydraulic oil pressure drop switch-sensor is open, and closes when the pressure increases.

2. The oil pressure warning signal is activated approximately 10 seconds after the ignition is turned on.

3. The warning signal for emergency drop in oil pressure is activated with a delay of about 3 seconds.

4. The oil pressure emergency drop warning signal turns off with a delay of about 5 seconds.

Checking the pressure drop alarm

After turning on the ignition and with the engine stopped, the oil pressure emergency indicator in the instrument panel should light up for 3 seconds and then go out again. The test stops if the engine is running.
