Note.
- Necessary special devices control measuring instruments, as well as auxiliary means:
- Suitable auxiliary hose for connection to the fuel return line.
- Fuel vessel, ca. 200 ml.
Note.
- The engine is warmed up to operating temperature.
- The air conditioner is off.
Note.
- The fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-, which is leaking at start-up, results in an increased return quantity.
- The high fuel pressure required for starting is not achieved.
Note. When working on the power supply system, safety precautions must be observed.
1. Remove the top decorative engine cover.
2. Escaping fuel should be collected with a clean rag.
3. Remove the hose (1) from the fuel return line shown in the figure below.
4. The open connector on the fuel return pipe must be plugged (1), as shown in the figure below.
5. Fuel return line (2) should be connected to a hose (3), as shown in the figure below.
6. Install this hose (3) in a suitable container so that the reciprocal of the amount of fuel escaping can be measured.
1) Control while the engine is running
7. Start the engine and let it run at idle speed. Required value: in 30 seconds: a 75 ml.
If the required value is not reached, this means that the fuel pressure control valve N276 is defective
2) Control while the engine is running
If the condition of paragraph 1 is met), increase speed by > 2000 rpm
Required reciprocal value: 0 ml.
Drip leakage is allowed.
If the required value is not reached, the fuel pressure regulating valve -N276- is defective.
3) If the engine can no longer be started
Carry out control with starting speed.
Required reciprocal value: 0 ml.
Drip leakage is allowed.
If the required value is not reached, the fuel pressure regulating valve -N276- is defective.
8. Replace fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-.
