Note.
- This engine has metal glow plugs.
- Necessary special devices, control and measuring devices, as well as auxiliary means:
- Hinge wrench No. 10-3220-.
- Cleaning and degreasing agent, e.g. -D 009 401 04-.
- Protective goggles and gloves.
Control
The preheating device is supervised by the automatic control system of the engine control unit.
The necessary control work is carried out through the function "Managed Fault Detection".
Removing
1. With the ignition off, remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. To remove the top decorative casing of the engine.
3. If present, the soundproofing of heated nozzles should be removed.
4. Disconnect wiring harness connectors from fuel injectors (A), differential pressure sender -G505- -B- and fuel pressure sender -G247- (WITH), as shown in the figure below.
5. Unscrew the fastening screws (arrows) coolant pipe from the intake manifold, lay the pipe in front of the intake manifold as shown in the figure below.
Note. To release the wiring harness, open the cable guide clips -arrows-.
Attention.
- The plugs must be disconnected from the spark plugs carefully.
- If the plug is damaged during disconnection, the entire wiring harness, including the plugs, would have to be replaced (plugs cannot be replaced individually).
6. Carefully disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the glow plugs. It is possible to facilitate the work with a 12 mm open-end wrench.
7. Loosen the lock nut on the fuel return line on the intake manifold. release the spring clip (arrow) and disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail.
8. Remove the complete fuel return line, put it in front of the intake manifold.
9. Clean the glow plug hole in the cylinder head. Do not allow any contamination to enter the cylinder.
Cleaning
Attention. Wear protective gloves and goggles when working with the degreaser!
1. Large dirt should be removed with a vacuum cleaner.
2. Spray brake cleaner or other suitable cleaning agent into the glow plug hole, let it act briefly and blow it out with compressed air.
3. Next, clean the glow plug hole with a cloth soaked in oil.
Use socket spanner no. 10 -3220- to loosen the glow plugs.
Installation
1. Use socket wrench no. 10 -3220- to tighten the glow plugs.
2. Glow plugs should be tightened torque: 18 Nm.
3. After connecting the connectors of the wiring harnesses to the corresponding glow plugs, check their installation.
4. Read out the fault memory of the engine control unit and reset the contents of the memory.
Note. After resetting the contents of the fault memory of the engine control unit, a new readiness code must be generated.
