Note: Minor leaks can be detected, for example, using an electronic detector.
1. Evacuate the refrigerant circuit using an air conditioning system servicing stand.
Note:
- If a relatively large leak is detected during vacuuming, the leak should be found and repaired as described on.
- If no leak is detected during vacuum testing, or if the leak is so small that it is impossible to find the leak location, proceed as follows.
- The gaseous refrigerant is quickly carried away by air currents. Therefore, when searching for a leak, avoid drafts.
- If the circulation circuit is completely empty, fill it with refrigerant to approximately 10% of the filling capacity (see FH34a sticker or repair manual for the relevant vehicle).
Leak detection
1. Prepare the leak detector for operation, see the device manual.
2. Place the test probe under the suspected leak location.
3. If the clicking frequency increases or a characteristic sound signal is emitted (depending on the design of the device), the leak location has been found (see the leak detector operating manual).
