Precautions when working with the instrument panel

  • Disconnect both wires from the battery.
  • Disconnect the airbag system line in advance.
  • Do not force open the airbag module cover, as this may cause the airbag to malfunction.
  • Be careful not to damage panels or other parts.
  • When removing or disassembling any parts, be careful not to damage or deform them. Cover with cloth any parts that may interfere with the work.
  • When removing parts using a screwdriver or other tool, protect the parts by wrapping the end of the tool with electrical or vinyl tape.
  • Cover the removed parts with a clean cloth.
  • If the clamps are deformed or damaged, replace them with new ones.
  • Replace disposable parts with new ones after each removal.
  • Tighten bolts and nuts securely to the specified tightening torques.
  • After completing the assembly, make sure that each part is in good working order.
  • Remove paint as follows:
    • A) Water-soluble paints: dip the fabric in warm water and squeeze well; after removing paint, wipe the surface with a soft dry cloth.
    • C) Oil paints: dilute synthetic detergent in warm water (two- or three-percent solution); dip the fabric into the solution and then remove the paint. After this, dip the soft cloth into fresh water and then wring it out well. After this, remove the detergent completely. Wipe the surface with a soft dry cloth.
  • Do not use organic solvents or gasoline.

2. Move the front seats as far back as possible.

3. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.

4. Remove the front airbag module from the driver's side (for more details, see the relevant section in the chapter "Passive safety").

Caution: Do not connect electrical measuring instruments to the airbag terminals. It is possible that the pyropatron may spontaneously trigger, resulting in serious injuries.

Caution: To prevent accidental airbag deployment, do not use any storage devices. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury or death.

Caution: Before starting any work, turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal, then wait at least 3 minutes.

Caution: Always work from the side of the airbag module; avoid working in front of the module.

Caution: After removal, always store the driver's airbag module with the housing facing down and the decorative cover facing up. Never store the airbag module with the cover facing down. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury.

Note: Repair of passive safety system components is not provided. In case of failure, the damaged element is replaced as an assembly.

Caution: Do not expose the airbag module to temperatures exceeding 90 degrees Celsius.

Prevent oil products, solvents and/or water from coming into contact with the airbag module.

Caution: Always replace the airbag module mounting bolts after disassembly and assembly.

Caution: Use extreme caution during installation to avoid damaging the airbag module wiring harness.

Before installing and tightening the mounting bolts, check and ensure that the holes in the module and the steering wheel are aligned, otherwise the airbag module may be damaged.
