Tightening torques and tightening sequence for crankshaft main bearing bolts



After disassembly, it is always necessary to replace the crankshaft main bearing cap bolts.

Tighten the main bearing cap bolts in the sequence shown in the figure below in several steps:
  • 1. Tighten all mounting bolts by hand until they stop.
  • 2. Tighten all mounting bolts in the specified sequence to a tightening torque of 65 Nm.
  • 3. Loosen all mounting bolts in the specified sequence by a quarter turn - 90°.
  • 4. Tighten all mounting bolts in the specified sequence to a tightening torque of 20 Nm.
  • 5. Tighten all mounting bolts in the specified sequence to an angle of 90°.
