The central tube is the main supporting structure with welded brackets, on which the steering column assembly, the passenger airbag and the instrument panel are fixed. It also contains plastic clamps for the wiring harnesses. The central tube itself is a thin-walled seamless steel tube with an external diameter of 60 mm.
After installation of all parts, the central tube is secured on the sides with the front pillars of the body, with one support to the central side member of the body frame (from the driver's side) and a longitudinal bracket to the upper part of the cross wall in the place of the steering column (see Fig. Steering column with bearing and its fastening to the central tube).
