The instrument panel for the car in the LX version contains fifteen light indicators concentrated in a rectangular block (five rows of three bulbs) between large circular devices. The tachometer has a digital clock at the bottom, and a daily and total mileage counter is built into the speedometer. In the instrument panels for GLX and SLX cars, indicator lights are placed in a similar way, but instead of a digital clock, an on-board computer is installed in the tachometer. It defines the following data, accompanied by the appropriate indication of the measured values: outside temperature, current fuel demand, average fuel demand, average speed, trip duration with trip duration alarm. The signal notifies the driver every two hours to stop, etc. The driving time alarm is activated after two hours of continuous ignition, and it automatically switches from any function and the display shows 2:00. The image flashes at a frequency of 1 Hz. It can be erased with the RESET button pressed for one second after calling the DOBA JIZDY function (TRIP DURATION). The driving time alarm can be acknowledged by pressing the button to switch the function. If the ignition remains on, the function switches after every two hours, with the time on the display increasing (2:00, 4:00, 6:00, etc. up to 24:00). Time is displayed in whole hours. When stopped (ignition off) for more than 10 minutes, the warning on the computer disappears; the computer does not take into account stops of a shorter duration.
The trip computer is controlled by a switch on the right half of the steering column switch. There is also a RESET button. The computer also functions as a digital clock.
Most of the light indicators are made by LED diodes. Instrument lighting is also (switched on automatically when you turn on the external lighting of the car) perform LED diodes and red-orange light guides. The light intensity can be adjusted using a potentiometer inserted into the ambient light switch. Its rotary adjustment knob can be pressed into the switch body after adjustment is completed so that it does not interfere.
An audible alarm is also inserted into the instrument panel, which is activated when the external lighting is on, the driver's door is open and the key is removed from the ignition at the same time. The audible alarm is also activated when the speed exceeds 120 km/h (this can be set by the tester in the service). With one short beep, the indicator precedes the ignition of the warning light indicating a critical amount of fuel, a triple short beep indicates that the maximum allowable coolant temperature has been exceeded, and, if necessary, that the coolant level in the reserve vessel has dropped below the set level. Three more short beeps indicate a drop in oil pressure and a triple beep will also be answered when the brake fluid level drops below the permissible lower limit.
For the first time in the process of manufacturing Skoda cars on the Octavia type, it was decided to measure the speed in the gearbox on the speedometer using electronics. The speedometer is not mechanically connected to the gearbox.
All vehicles have a built-in auxiliary interval alarm in the digital odometer. In the event that an engine oil change is necessary, the OEL will light up. The inscription INSP.1 or INSP.2 informs about the first or second inspection in the service.
Attention! The intervals are set exclusively by the tester in the service.
Detailed information on the location of the indicator lights and information on the functions of instruments and indicator instruments is contained in the SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS supplied with the new vehicle.
