Install the guide plate on the cylinder head "VAS 5161/32" 1- and secure it with knurled screws "VAS 5161/12". Screw the adapter "T40012" with the sealing ring into the corresponding threaded hole of the spark plug by hand. Connect the adapter via a standard adapter to a source of compressed air and apply constant pressure. Minimum pressure: 0.6 MPa (6 bar). Insert the punch "VAS 5161/ZA" into the guide plate and tap it with a plastic hammer to loosen the valve crackers.

Screw the bracket into the guide plate "VAS 5161/6" with a fork "VAS 5161/5". Insert the mounting chuck into the guide plate "VAS 5161/32" 2- with a bushing installed on it "VAS 5161/32" 3-. Hook the push lever "VAS 5161/2" by the adjustable stop and press the mounting cartridge down. At the same time, turn the rod installed in the mounting cartridge clockwise until the fork located at its end enters the gaps between the crackers. Alternately turn the rod first one way, then the other - the crackers will be pressed away from each other and fixed in the cartridge. Release the pressure lever. Remove the mounting cartridge. Unscrew the screws securing the guide plate and move it to the side. The compressed air supply hose remains connected to the adapter. Remove the valve spring with the plate.

Remove the valve stem seal using valve stem pliers, e.g. "VAS 6770".
Caution! Risk of damage when installing valve stem seals.

Place the plastic sleeve "A" supplied with the new valve stem seal "B" onto the valve stem. Lightly lubricate the working edge of the valve stem seal with oil. Place the valve stem seal onto the plastic sleeve. Carefully press the valve stem seal onto the valve guide sleeve using the mandrel "3365". Remove the plastic sleeve.

If the valve crackers have been removed from the mounting cartridge, they must first be inserted into the mounting device. The larger diameter of the valve crackers must be facing upwards. Press the mounting cartridge from above onto the valve mounting device to grip the valve crackers. Insert the spring and valve plate, mounting position of the valve spring.

Re-fasten the guide plate "VAS 5161/32" 1- on the cylinder head. Insert the mounting cartridge into the guide plate "VAS 5161/32" 2- with sleeve "VAS5161/32" 3. Press the lever and, turning the rod of the mounting cartridge first one way, then the other, insert the crackers into place. Release the pressure lever with the rod still pulled out. Repeat the operation on each valve.
