Removal and installation the tailgate (Skoda Rapid NH1)

Removal

1. Remove the tailgate trim panel assembly (for more details, see the relevant section in this chapter).

2. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the electrical consumers in the luggage compartment door.

3. Remove the wiring harnesses from the trunk lid housing.

4. Loosen the mounting bolts (3) of the luggage compartment door to the hinges on the right and left sides, as shown in the figure below. Tightening torque of the door mounting bolts during installation: 10 Nm. Do not completely unscrew the mounting bolts.

Note: Removal and installation of the tailgate must be performed by a second mechanic.

5. Completely unscrew the luggage compartment door mounting bolts (3), then remove the door assembly.

6. If it is necessary to dismantle the tailgate hinges, it is necessary to unscrew the fastening nuts (2) on both sides of the door, only in this case, it will be necessary to first disconnect the rear part of the roof trim panel from the clamps. Tightening torque of the nuts fastening the tailgate hinges to the body, during installation: 20 Nm.
