The system includes: a driver airbag module located in the steering wheel hub and consisting of a folded airbag shell and an inflator; a passenger airbag module located in the dashboard on the passenger side and consisting of a folded airbag shell and an inflator; side airbag modules located on the seats and consists of a folded airbag shell and a gas generator; SRS control module (SDM). installed in the center console and controlling the system; front and side impact sensors; spring connector (slip ring), located in the steering column; system wiring and connectors. The function of determining the impact force is provided by the SRS system control module using sensors that, in the event of a collision, measure the magnitude of the impact of the car and issue a corresponding signal to the microprocessor through the amplifying and filtering circuits. The airbag deploys in the event of a moderate to severe frontal or near-frontal side impact.
Only specially trained personnel are allowed to work on the airbag system. Therefore, the production of such work should be preceded by a careful study of this manual. When working on the airbag system, strict precautions must be taken to avoid injury to operating personnel (in case of accidental airbag deployment) or driver (due to airbag failure).
The airbag module for the driver, passenger airbag, includes the airbag itself and the gas generator. The gas generator is made in the form of a squib with an igniter. In the event of a frontal or side impact of sufficient force, causing the sensor contacts to close, a current is supplied to the ignition circuit, as a result of which the squib ignites and the airbag is filled with gas.
Attention.
- 1. When removing the airbag module, as well as when handling a new airbag module, place the module with the outer facing up. Do not store steering wheel covers stacked one above the other. (Storing facings with the metal part up can lead to an accident if the airbag is accidentally deployed).
- 2. Use only original spare parts. Do not use parts of the SRS system from other vehicles.
- 3. It is forbidden to check the resistance at the terminals of the igniter (this can cause the airbag to deploy, which is extremely dangerous).
- 4. Store the airbag module at a temperature not exceeding 65°C in normal humidity and without electrical interference.
- 5. Before performing electric welding work, it is necessary to disconnect the airbag wire connector located under the steering column next to the steering column switch block connector.
- 6. If crash sensors, airbag modules or slip ring are dropped from a height of more than 91 cm, replace the parts with new ones.
- 7. After turning off the power, you must wait 1 minute. Only then can you start working on the SRS system.
